Drink Seminar: Willamette Valley from the Ground Up
Presenters: Bree Stock MW & Rachelle Goudreau
Oregon’s Willamette Valley is not exactly a newcomer to the wine world – vines were first planted there in the 1960s – but its reputation for growing first-class Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs is nonetheless surprising, given that many of its rival producers have been in operation for centuries. The region is blessed with an ideal climate, winemakers devoted to their craft, and, last but not least, good dirt. Bree Stock MW leads this comparative tasting of Chards and Pinots from a range of Willamette AVAs, focusing on how vineyard soil composition affects the complexity of flavours in the glass.
