Paul is an independent writer and wine educator loc ated in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is the Sal es Director for The Seacove Group, a company that impo rts craft wines and spirits into Western Canada.
Paul hails from Alberta where he began his restaur ant career, but it wasn’t until he moved to Toronto in 1990 to work in the music industry that he would be unknowingly launched into the world of wine. His love of music led to managing and working with inde pendent artists and the appreciation of sharing and engaging an audience became permanently imbedded in his work.
Paul relocated to Vancouver where the wine and hos pitality bug hit him again and he honed his knowledge and skills through working at fine establ ishments such as the Dundarave Wine Cellar, as Service Instructor at the Pacific Institute of Culi nary Arts and as Beverage Director at O’Doul’s Restaurant and Bar / Listel Hotel.
After winning the inaugural Rick Carl Scholarship to the Society of Wine Educators Conference in California in 2002, Paul was inspired to begin teac hing independently. Since then he has provided sta ff training and wine program development services for such prestigious establishments as the Wickaninnish Inn, the Listel Hotel and The Vancouver Club. He is a Certified Specialist of Spirits (C SS), Spanish Wine Educator, a Certified Sherry Educator and a member of the Society of Wine Educators.
He continues to actively write and teach and after 25 years as wine & hospitality professional, he st ill adheres to the musings of Oscar Wilde, “The best me ans of dealing with temptation is to yield to it.”
